Representation in Action
Welcome to “Representation in Action,” where we celebrate and amplify the voices of small business owners who are making a difference in the realms of mental health, disabilities, and diverse representation. By featuring businesses that prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, we aim to make representation a natural and essential part of everyday life. Each month, we will spotlight a different business to provide them with greater exposure and engage our community. Through this effort, we hope to normalize meaningful representation and make it a standard rather than an exception.

"Hi there! I'm Chelsey Summers, a certified speech-language pathologist turned ADHD Coach. My own personal journey with ADHD sparked a passion within me to help others. I battled through school undiagnosed, was misdiagnosed with depression in college, and compensated my way through most of graduate school. It was the last year of my Master's program when I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyscalculia. Unfortunately, I was not given the appropriate resources to fully understand the impact that ADHD can have on all aspects of life if left unmanaged. It wasn't until reaching my absolute breaking point and complete burnout in my career as a school-based speech-language pathologist that I learned I could get help! Finding the right support, which for me included medication, counseling, and hiring an ADHD Coach was quite literally lifesaving. Now, my mission is to pay it forward and offer support to adults who might be struggling with unmanaged ADHD just like I did. I'm so thankful for my ADHD journey and I'm grateful I didn't do it alone. You don’t have to either!"
"I am a Speech- Language Pathologist and found a void in representation with the kids I worked with. I decided to make a difference and create characters/stories related to kids with disabilities. I created this series to raise awareness, acceptance, representation and inclusion."

"Kind Cotton is a clothing company dedicated to redefining kindness and putting books in the hands of kids. Their inclusive clothing helps to inspire others to rethink kindness as more than simple pleasantries but rather take a deeper look into kindness being rooted in justice and grounded in action. With every purchase made, a book is directly given to a child through the Kind Cotton Reading Program. To date, Kaitlin and her husband Kevin have donated close to 150,000 books to children and teachers across the country."
"Bringing more awareness and representation to neurodivergency! I work within the autism population and struggled to find books to aid in real life situations my kiddos deal with on a day to day basis. Writing books that celebrate everyone's uniqueness has been the best experience. My goal is to have just one child see themselves in my writing and have already have received so much positive feedback that their child has felt represented by my book!"
